Gerald R.W. Chasse, 81, loving husband of 51 years to Rolande (Coté) Chasse, peacefully passed away Friday, March 5, 2021 in Hartford Hospital. Gerald was born September 11, 1939 and raised in St. Agatha, ME, one of six children to Maxime and Philime (Michaud) Chasse. Gerald served our country for over nine years in the United States Army during the Vietnam Era. After being honorably discharged from the military, he met his wife Rolande, they married in 1969 and moved to Hartford where their son was born. In 1972, they bought their home in East Hartford where they have resided since then. Gerald took a job with Colt Firearms Co. where he spent over 30 years of dedicated service, going to training schools regarding gun manufacturing and attaining the position of General Foreman. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed spending time at Augie & Ray’s Drive In where he made many friends and had many good times. His family was his greatest joy, as well as the time they spent together.
Along with his wife Rolande, Gerald will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by his son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Maria Chasse in Vernon; a brother and two sisters, Jean, Lorraine and Vi Chasse all in Florida, several nieces and nephews in the US and Canada. In addition to his parents, Gerald was predeceased by a brother and sister.
There are no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday, March 11, 2021 at 10:30 a.m. in St. Christopher Church of St. Edmund Campion Parish, 538 Brewer St., East Hartford. Interment will take place at a later date in St. Gerard Cemetery, Grand Isle, ME. CDC and State of CT COVID guidelines will be followed.
