

Gerald A. Spence, 56, of Wethersfield, beloved husband of Lucie (Bissonnette) Spence, died peacefully on Saturday (October 4, 2008) at Hartford Hospital with his devoted family by his bedside. He was born October 8, 1951 in Rockville and was the son of the late Wilbert and Myrtle (Pfeifer) Spence. He was employed by Cumberland Electronics, formerly Signal Electronics of West Hartford for 18 years. He was an avid fan of the East Hartford Soccer Club where he loved watching his grandchildren play. He enjoyed fishing and playing the guitar with his sons. He was his daughter's personal advisor and consultant, he was not just a father, he was a ?Best Friend?. Besides his wife, Lucie of 35 years, he is survived by his children, Stephanie Duffey and her husband, Christopher of East Hartford, Cynthia Spence of Baltimore, Maryland, Philip Spence and Gerald A. Spence both of Wethersfield, grandchildren, Daniel and Alyssa Duffey and Troy Todd, brother-in-law, Ralph E. Wilcox of Altoona, PA. and several nieces and nephews among them, Lynn and Ralph Wilcox. He was predeceased by his sister, Linda Wilcox. A very special thank you to the staff at Helen and Harry Gray Cancer Center, the Hartford Hospital Emergency Room and ICU as well as all the people who helped during his illness. Funeral service will be Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. from the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at Corpus Christi Church, Wethersfield.
