Geraldine “Gerry” Ann (Querido) Murasso, beloved wife of the late Alphonse Murasso Jr. for more than 50 years, passed away peacefully at her home on September 29, 2026, surrounded by the love and memories of the family who meant everything to her. She was 95.
Gerry was born in New Bedford, Massachusetts, to the late Manuel Querido and Ann (Rogers) Querido. She was a graduate of St. Joseph College and dedicated many years of her life to helping others as a social worker at South End Community Services in Hartford.
Gerry and Al raised their son, Paul, and daughter, Annie, in South Hartford before eventually moving into the Glastonbury home where Gerry was raised. Gerry created homes that were filled with warmth, laughter, and, of course, wonderful food. She loved gardening and took great pride in her cooking, especially her famous sauce, meatballs, and chicken cutlets.
Gerry’s greatest joy was her family. She is survived by her loving daughter, Annie (Murasso) Dineen, and her husband, Kevin, as well as her six grandchildren: Hannah Reed and her husband, Josh, Emma Dineen, William Dineen, Declan Dineen, Taryn Murasso, and Cameron Murasso; and her great-grandchild, Weller Day Reed.
She was preceded in death by her beloved son, Paul James Murasso, as well as her brothers and sisters-in-law, David and Betty Querido, and Robert and Norma Querido.
Gerry was deeply religious and started her days with a prayer of gratitude, saying, “This is the day the lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad.” She also ended nearly every visit and phone call with friends and family by imparting, “God go with you.” Her family takes great comfort in knowing Gerry is now with Him always.
Gerry was and her family remains deeply grateful to all of the people who made it possible for her to continue living in her childhood home into her 90s. Thank you to her caretakers who treated her like family: Ella Atenor, Orlandis (Linda James), and Chris Pytel. Also, the family and friends who could always be counted on to check in on her: David Querido Jr, Annette Benker and Maggie Seaver.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2026, at 10 a.m. at SS. Isidore and Maria Parish – St. Paul Church, 2577 Main Street, Glastonbury, CT 06033. All are asked to gather directly at the church for Mass. There will be no calling hours. Burial will immediately follow at Green Cemetery in Glastonbury.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial contributions in her name be made to the Connor Scott Zieky Foundation at www.cszfoundation.org To leave a message of remembrance for the family, please visit www.desopofuneralchapel.com
