German "Gerry" Hipolito Falcon, 96, of Wethersfield, beloved husband for almost 67 years of the late Angelica (Espejo) Falcon, passed away peacefully on Friday, June 6, 2025, at St. Francis Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Lima, Peru on December 2, 1928, he was the son of the late Manuel and Aurea (Canales) Falcon. Gerry had worked at The First National City Bank of New York, the predecessor of Citibank and Banco Continental, now BBVA Continental Bank, both in Lima before emigrating to the United States. He was very happy and proud the day he became an American citizen. Gerry worked as a Tool and Machine Repairman for Pratt & Whitney Aircraft in Rocky Hill for many years, retiring in 1995.
Gerry loved tending to his vegetable garden; he also loved birds and had several bird feeders and a birdbath that he would attend to every day. He loved to sit outside to enjoy the warm sun while whistling to the birds. Gerry loved the beach and yearly family vacation trips to Cape Cod. He enjoyed watching soccer, basketball, and football games with his grandsons and sons-in-law. Gerry enjoyed listening to and dancing to Huaynos, a popular Andean music and dance common in Peru, and speaking the few words of Quechua (the primary language of the Inca and now an official language in Peru) that he learned as a young boy. Gerry always had a smile on his face, whistled a tune, and had a warm, kind, and loving personality. Many who met Gerry never forgot his friendliness and joking manner. His neighbors and those in the local market can attest to that.
Gerry was especially devoted to his family. He was always the first to visit after the birth of a grandchild. A loving dad, grandpa and great-grandpa, Gerry will be forever missed by his five beloved children:
Aurea Tsombanos and husband John, Angelica "Angie" L, Falcon, Doris Welner and husband Robert, all of Wethersfield, German "Gerry" S. Falcon of Santa Jose, CA, and Bruce Falcon and wife Margaret "Meg" of Fort Worth, TX; his nine adored grandchildren: Aja Tsombanos Vasquez (Edwin), Eleni Tsombanos, James "JR" Falcon, William "Billy" Welner, Robert "Bobby" Welner, Timothy "Timmy" Welner, Christian Falcon, Caleb Falcon, and Gabriel Falcon, and three cherished great-grandchildren, Athena, Yianni, and Kostas Vasquez. He also leaves his sister, Irene Castaneda of Lima, Peru, and a much loved brother-in-law Leopoldo "Leo" Espejo in Maryland, as well as manynieces, nephews and extended family members. In addition to his beloved wife and parents, Gerry was predeceased by his brother, Manuel Falcon and a niece, Carola "Carol" (Falcon) Susanin.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, June 18 at 11:30 a.m. at the Church of the Incarnation of Christ the King Parish, 544 Prospect Street, Wethersfield. Everyone is asked to please go directly to the church. Burial will be private at the convenience of the family.
