

Gildo Alberto Colasacco, 86, of Hartford, beloved husband for 61 years of Maria E. (DiGregorio) Colasacco, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on Sunday (January 17, 2010) at Hartford Hospital. He was born on March 8, 1923 in Capodacqua Frazione di Capestrano, Aquila Italy, son of the late Antonio and Maria Carmela (DiSano) Colasacco. Gildo was raised in Capodacqua and served in the Italian Army during World War II. After the war he went to Belgium and Venezuela, returned to Italy and settled in Capestrano. He came to the United States on December 8, 1969 and worked at Charter Oak Construction until retiring in 1990. He was a parishioner of St. Luke Church in Hartford. Besides his wife, he leaves his son Antonio and his wife Maria Clara of Wethersfield; his cherished grandchildren, Giovanni and his wife Izabela, Antonio Jr., and Melissa; and the greatest joy of his last days, his great- grandson, Nicholas Antonio. Gildo will be sadly missed by his siblings, Olga and her husband Teodoro of Wethersfield, Mario of Italy, Palmina of Wethersfield, Battista and his wife Elsa of Canada, Guido and his wife Adria of Wethersfield, and Gregorio and his wife Flora of Wethersfield. Gildo loved the outdoors and spent many hours with his brothers, son and grandson walking the woods. Funeral services will be Wednesday, January 20 at 9 a.m. at the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield, followed by a 10 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial at the Church of the Incarnation, 544 Prospect St., Wethersfield. Gildo will be entombed in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford following the Mass. Calling hours will be TODAY, Tuesday from 4?7 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
