Giovanni Iacobucci, 62, of Rocky Hill, loving husband of 40 years to Susan (Vallera) Iacobucci, unexpectedly passed away peacefully at home Wednesday, September 28, 2022 with his wife at his side. He was born March 16, 1960 in Pratola Peligna, province of L’Aquila, Italy, son of the late Umberto and Maria (DiBacco) Iacobucci. The family immigrated to the United States when Giovanni was a teenager. He grew up in Hartford, attending Hartford schools and graduating from Bulkeley High School in 1978. He continued his education at Porter & Chester Technical School, where he studied Mechanical Engineering. Giovanni was a hard worker who was great at his job, working in the manufacturing industry as a CNC machine operator for over 30 years, having positions at Stanadyne, Reno, and DACRUZ Manufacturing Companies.
He was a devoted Jehovah’s Witness, serving as a minister for many years. He loved to spend time sharing his faith with others. He was a perfectionist and a great handyman who would help anyone who needed him. He loved people, selflessly putting the needs of others before his own. Giovanni enjoyed watching Italian soccer games, always rooting for his favorite team, Inter. He also enjoyed watching game shows, singing and listening to music, and could quote song lyrics and movies on the spot. No one could tell a joke like Giovanni; he never missed an opportunity to make the whole room laugh. He loved food, and would not pass up a good meal with family and friends, ending every day with a cup of coffee. He had a steel-trap memory, never forgetting a name or face, even if he only met you once. A devoted and dedicated family man, Giovanni was a very happy and content person, and a joy to be with.
Along with his loving wife and best friend Susan, Giovanni will be deeply missed and forever in the hearts of his loving family. A son, Daniel Iacobucci; a daughter and son-in-law, Jennifer and Michael Cote; an adored grandson, Brandon Iacobucci; a brother and sister-in-law, Walter and Lori Iacobucci; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Luisa and Ferdinando Cieri; nephews and nieces, Matthew and Andrew Iacobucci, Robert (Mary) Cieri, and Marco (Jessica) Cieri; and many more.
Giovanni’s family will receive friends and relatives at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Boulevard, Wethersfield on Monday, October 3 from 9:30 – 11:30 a.m., at which time a Celebration of Life will take place.
