Giuseppe G. Tedeschi, 103, of Hartford, beloved husband for 67 years of the late Evelina (Cianfaglione) Tedeschi, passed away peacefully on Friday, February 25, 2022 at John Dempsey Hospital in Farmington. Born in Pratola Peligna, Province of L'Aquila, Italy on March 11, 1918, he was the son of the late Gaetano and Pulgheria (Santilli) Tedeschi. Giuseppe was a proud 10-year veteran of the Italian army, and during WWII he spent five years in a POW camp in India. At the end of WWII, he returned to Pratola Peligna and October 28, 1948 married Evelina Cianfaglione also of Pratola Peligna. Searching for work he left Italy to work in the coal mines of Belgium for a time. In 1949 Giuseppe went to Venezuela to work on construction of high-rise buildings leaving his wife and new born son, Rinaldo, which he didn't see until the age of 5, when his wife reunited with him in Venezuela.
In 1960 Giuseppe immigrated to the United States to start a new life with his wife Evelina, son Rinaldo and daughter Lolita. Giuseppe worked most of his time in Hartford for the Colts Firearms company until his retirement.
Giuseppe was a proud member of The Pratolana Society Club of Hartford since his arrival in 1960. He enjoyed playing cards with friends, watching his favorite soccer team, Juventus and was very active maintaining his vegetable garden and his fruit trees.
A loving father, grandfather and great grandfather Giuseppe will be forever missed by his children, Rinaldo Tedeschi and wife Diane of Avon and Lolita Sobieski and husband Garry of Guilford. Giuseppe was most happy when surrounded by his five grandchildren, Marcello and wife Diana Tedeschi, Paulo Tedeschi, Gregory and wife Sabrina Tedeschi, Danielle Sobieski and husband Daniel Mill, and Dominique Sobieski and fiancé Jordan Vogel, and four great grandchildren James, David, Max and beautiful Evelina he loved so dearly. He is also survived by his brother, Mario Tedeschi, brothers-in-law Attilio and wife Emma Cianfaglione, Quintino and Marcella Cianfaglione, Luigi and Blanca Cianfaglione, as well as many extended family members, both in the United States, Canada, France and Italy. He was predeceased by three brothers, Antonio Tedeschi and wife Ermelinda, David Tedeschi and wife Maria, Salvatore Tedeschi and four sisters, Francesca Casasanta and husband Antonio, Rosa Pace and husband Cesare, Vincenza Dibacco and husband Crescenzo, Maria D'andrea and husband Tommaso, and sister-in-law Maria Tedeschi.
Giuseppe always said that the secret to a long and happy life resides in family and friends, not to take life too seriously, eat plenty of pasta, and drink good wine instead of water.
The family would like to give special thanks to Touchpoints Nursing Home in Bloomfield, and the staff at John Dempsey Hospital for the outstanding care and compassion our loved father received.
Calling hours will be Wednesday, March 2nd from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. followed by a prayer service at 12 p.m. at the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Boulevard, Wethersfield.
