

Giuseppe “Joe” Vernali, 81, of Glastonbury, beloved husband for 57 years of Concetta “Tina” (Pappalardo) Vernali, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family on Tuesday, May 12, 2026. Born in Floridia, province of Siracusa, Sicily on October 19, 1944, he was the son of the late Sebastiano and Vincenza (Latina) Vernali. Joe came to the U.S. in 1966. He married his beloved Tina in 1968 and they settled in Hartford to raise their family. Joe was a master carpenter and furniture maker, capable of making almost anything with his hands. He also enjoyed cooking and eating a good meal and sharing the bounty of his vegetable garden with family and friends. More than anything, he was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who cherished time spent with his family.
In addition to his loving wife Tina, Joe will be forever missed by his three children, Enza Vernali of Rutherford, NJ, Pamela Guarderas of Park Ridge, NJ and Sebastian Vernali of Glastonbury and his two adored granddaughters, Sophie and Olivia Guarderas. He is also survived by his sister, Angela DiTomasso of Farmington, as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. Joe was predeceased by his brother, Salvatore Vernali of Glastonbury. Special thanks to Masonicare Hospice and Heaven’s Hands Home Care.
Calling hours will be Friday, May 15 from 11 a.m. -12:30 p.m. concluding with a Prayer Service at 12:30 p.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Boulevard, Wethersfield. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford.
