

Gloria (Torregrossa) Carrabba, 85, of West Hartford, loving wife of the late Salvatore R. Carrabba, M.D., passed away peacefully, Monday (June 2, 2014) at her home surrounded by her devoted family. She was born August 6, 1928 in Brooklyn, New York and was the daughter of the late Andrew and Pietrina (D’Angelo) Torregrossa. She met the love of her life at 16 and remained infinitely devoted to her sweetheart Tuddy. Theirs was a magical relationship borne of respect and shared dedication to family. She enhanced his life by her grace, beauty and intellect. She moved to Hartford as a young bride, quickly developing lifelong friendships. Her passion was her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was the guiding light that steered her family, their true North Star. Gloria was a member and benefactor of St. Francis Hospital Women's Auxiliary, Boy's Town of Italy and The Connecticut Opera Guild. She is survived by her children and their spouses, Angelo S. Carrabba, M.D. and Jane Formica, Antoinette Carrabba, Petrina Ann Russolillo and Gary E. Russolillo, M.D., Gloria C. Nozko and Henry Nozko, Jr. and Mary Carrabba Pettinato and Anthony; 14 grandchildren and their spouses, Gloria L. Sarkisian and Robert, Salvatore R. Carrabba and Alessandra, Catherine Sardilli and Devin, Mia Angela Sardilli and Jason, Stephen Carrabba and Catherine, Christopher Carrabba and Bonnie, Nicholas Carrabba and Rachel, Victoria Carrabba, Henry Nozko III and Sage, Cristina Savin and Robert, Joy Alexa Russolillo and Tatiana Carrabba Pettinato; 16 great-grandchildren, Matteo Carrabba, Olivia Carrabba, R. Alexander Sarkisian, Talia Sarkisian, Isabella Sardilli, Lilliana Sardilli, Alessia Sardilli, Lucia Sardilli, Giulia Carrabba, Amelia Carrabba, Justin Nozko, II, Griffin Nozko, Morgan Nozko, Caden Carrabba, Alexa Carrabba and Mila Carrabba and her sisters, Mary Rothkopf and Mary Torregrossa. She was predeceased by her daughter-in-law, Catherine B. Carrabba; her granddaughter, Gabrielle P. Russolillo; her grandson, Justin Brent Nozko and five brothers and sisters. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday (June 6) at 10 a.m. at St. Timothy Church, 116 North Main Street, West Hartford. Everyone is asked to go directly to the church. The burial will follow in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. Calling hours are Thursday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield.
