

With extreme sadness we announce the passing of Guido Vallera, 90, of East Hartford, beloved husband for 59 years to Geatana “Nella” (Pace) Vallera. Guido passed away on Monday, January 3, 2022. Born in Pratola Peligna, Italy on April 6, 1931, he was son of the late Guerino and Emilia Vallera.
Guido was a gifted tailor, known for his gentle and kind nature. He was extremely devoted to his family. Guido was a longtime member of the Pratolana M.B. Society. He loved watching soccer, playing bocce and playing cards with friends.
A loving husband, father, and grandfather, Guido will be forever missed by his devoted wife Nella; his two daughters, Emilia Gannon and husband John of Coventry and Maria Skavicus and husband Paul of Massachusetts, and his adored grandchildren, Christina, Andrew and Jessica Skavicus, and Sean and Jerred Gannon and step-grandson, Dr. Ryan Gannon. He is also survived by brothers, Cesidio Vallera, Federico Vallera and wife Teresa, Vittorio Vallera and wife Patti, Aldo Vallera and wife Ninetta; sisters, Lina Vuoto and husband Isidore, Irma Galante and Olvea DiCristofaro and sister-in-law, Maureen Vallera; brothers-in-law, Tony and Alberto Pace; sister-in-law Maria DiBacco and many dear nieces, nephews and extended family members. He was predeceased by his brother, Giulio Vallera.
Calling hours will be Saturday (January 8) from 9:30-11 a.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Boulevard, Wethersfield followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. at Maria Reina de la Paz Parish (St. Lawrence O’Toole Church), 494 New Britain Avenue, Hartford, followed by burial at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford. Masks are required for all indoor services. In lieu of flowers, donations in Guido’s memory may be made to the CT Children’s Medical Center Foundation, 282 Washington Street, Hartford, CT 06106.
