Guy G. DiStefano, 89, of Rocky Hill formerly of Wethersfield, peacefully passed away Sunday, June 6, 2021 in St. Francis Hospital. Guy was born January 2, 1932 and raised in Augusta, Province of Syracusa, Sicily, son to the late John and Domenica (DiStefano) DiStefano. The family emigrated to American in 1946, where they resided in the west end of Boston in the Chelsey/Revere area.
Guy earned several degrees in education; a Master’s Degree from Boston University, a six-week certificate from Tufts University, continuing on, he began his PhD in 1955 at the University of Paris, to which he chose to end his studies prior to completion. Guy returned to the US. He moved to CT 45 years ago, where he began a distinguished career in teaching at the Town of Wethersfield. He was a devout Catholic as a communicant and Eucharistic Minister at St. Luke Church, Hartford, then a communicant of Church of the Incarnation, Wethersfield after the close of St. Luke Church. Guy led the Rosary on a daily basis with the Legion of Mary. He was a proud member of the Knights of Columbus and a Carmelite of the Third Order.
Guy is survived by his brother Joseph DiStefano of East Boston, MA, along with many dear and close friends. Signore Di Stefano will also be remembered fondly by all of the students that passed through his classroom. The family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude to Sharon Szczerba for her devotion and kindness.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at 10am directly in the Church of the Incarnation, 544 Prospect St., Wethersfield. Interment will follow the Mass in Village Cemetery (Hart Extension), Marsh St. Wethersfield. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to the Church of the Incarnation or the Knights of Columbus, 1 Columbus Plaza, New Haven, CT. 06510.
