

Harriet (White) Anderson, 82, of Wethersfield, loving and devoted wife of Roger O. Anderson for 56 years, passed away peacefully, Saturday, (December 31, 2011) at Newington Health Care. A lifelong resident of Wethersfield she was born January 9, 1929 in Hartford and was the daughter of the late Arthur J. White and Emily (Segur) White. She was a graduate of Wethersfield High School, Class of 1947 and Hartford Secretarial School, Class of 1949. Harriet later applied and was accepted for a position at the National Education Association in Washington, D.C. She returned home in 1951 and took a Secretarial position at Trinity College in Hartford with the Air Force R.O.T.C. She met her husband, Roger in 1953 while he was serving in the US Air Force, they were married May 14, 1955 at Trinity College Chapel. She terminated her employment with Trinity College in 1960 to raise her son and daughter. Harriet returned to work in 1967 and was employed by the Wethersfield Board of Education in the central office, retiring in 1999. From 1992 to 1987 both Harriet and Roger were active members and supporters of the Wethersfield High School Band. She assisted Roger in the yearly fundraising selling fruit. Harriet was always seen marching with the band in parades, providing water when needed. She was a longtime member of the Wethersfield United Methodist Church. She will be dearly missed by her family and many friends. Besides her husband, Roger, she is survived by her daughter, Morgan Carroll and husband, Sydney of Wethersfield and her son, David Anderson and wife, Carol of Buxton, ME; a grandson, Jason J. Roy of Wethersfield; and a niece, Jane C. Anderson of Nashville, TN and a sister-in-law, Barbara Anderson of Manchester. A very special thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff at Newington Health Care for the love, care and compassion shown to Harriet and her family during her illness.
A Prayer Service will be held Wednesday (January 4) at 11 a.m. at the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd. Wethersfield with the Reverend Albert Hahn officiating. Calling hours are Wednesday (January 4) from 9-11 a.m. at the funeral chapel. The burial will be private.
