Born in Hartford, he lived in Wethersfield since 1976. He graduated from Weaver High School in 1949 and brought his flair to several professions throughout his life, including insurance and printing. Most recently, he enthusiastically served as a Democratic legislative assistant at the State Capitol. Everyone who knew Harry had a story to tell, whether it be about his beloved Boston Red Sox, theatre, jazz music, photography, antiques, Frank Sinatra or his adored cats. As a survivor of the 1944 Hartford Circus fire, he appeared in many television shows, articles and books discussing his experience that day. Harry was an avid volunteer who gave much of his time and passion to the Mark Twain Masquers Theatre Group, the Wethersfield Committee on Culture and the Arts, the Wethersfield Historical District Commission, and he was a founding member of the Hartford Jazz Society and multiple committees too numerous to list. He truly loved the town of Wethersfield and was well known for marching in parades dressed as the Red Onion.
Harry was pre-deceased by both parents, his sister Doris Kline, his brothers Jay and Joseph “Bud” Lichtenbaum and several nieces and nephews. He is survived by many nieces, nephews and cherished friends.
The Funeral Procession will depart at 11 a.m. on Monday (November 21st) from the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield for an 11:30 a.m. Graveside Service at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford. There will be no Calling Hours.
