Helen Hunchak, 90, of Ellington, beloved wife for 64 years of the late Paul Hunchak, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her family on Wednesday, December 21, 2016. Helen devoted her life to her loving husband and family. The accomplishments of her children and grandchildren were all that mattered to her and her strength will live on in each of them. She will be deeply missed for so many reasons, but especially her famous perogies and coleslaw, which were beyond compare, both of which we may never know the real recipe for. A loving mother, grandmother and aunt, she will be dearly missed by her daughter, Patricia Hunchak of Rocky Hill; her son and daughter-in-law, Paul and Debra Hunchak of Ellington; her beloved grandchildren, Bretton Hunchak of New York City and Kyle Veronneau and her husband Michael of Wethersfield and many nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday (December 23) at 12 noon at St. Michael’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, Hartford. Everyone is asked to please go directly to the church. Burial will be private and there are no calling hours. The D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, Wethersfield is in charge of arrangements. Donations in Helen’s memory may be made to St. Michael’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, 135 Wethersfield Ave., Hartford, CT 06114. To share a memory of Helen with her family, please visit www.desopo.com.
