

away peacefully at her home on January 11, 2023 after a long illness.
Helena was born in Poland in 1928 to Ignacy and Stefania (Dudzinski) Wasikowski. At
the onset of WWII, Helena, her siblings, and their mother Stefania were displaced from their
home in Poland. They traveled through Siberia and the Middle East before arriving in Kenya.
Despite being separated at times, the family eventually reunited and settled in England.
Helena and Bruno Cierocki were married in Cirencester, England in September 1953. Following
other family members who had already emigrated, Helena, Bruno and son Ted crossed the
Atlantic on the passenger liner, Liberty. They arrived in the United States in June 1955 and
initially made their residence in Hartford, CT. Later, they purchased their home in Wethersfield
where Helena resided until her passing.
Helena was employed for over three decades as an electronics assembler at Andersen
Laboratories in Bloomfield CT.
She was a parishioner of SS Cyril and Methodius Church in Hartford, CT
Helena lived a quiet life and enjoyed cooking, knitting, gardening, dining out and trips to the
shore. Bruno and Helena also spent many summers vacationing at the shores of Myrtle Beach
and Florida. She will be remembered for her elegant and expansive holiday dinners and never
letting a visitor leave her home without a meal.
Helena is survived by her son Ted Cierocki, granddaughters Anna Cierocki (Scott Bighinatti)
and Alina Cierocki (Trevor Levesque) and four grandchildren Lincoln and Vera Levesque and
Alexander and Eleanor Bighinatti. She is also survived by brother Anthony Wasikowski (Marie
Wasikowski) and nieces Alicia Psutka (Andy Garcia) and Elaine Morneault (Paul Morneault) and
several nephews and nieces in England.
She was predeceased by her brother John Wasikowski, and sisters Maria Psutka and Lucy
Wasikowski.
The family expresses their sincerest gratitude for all the caregivers and the Polish Helping
Hands agency for their kindness, support and care for Helena during her illness and times of
need.
Family and friends are invited for a time of visitation on January 17, 2023 from 9:00 a.m. to
10:30 a.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on January 17, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. at the SS Cyril and
Methodius Church on 63 Popieluszko Ct, Hartford CT.
Burial services will follow at Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery in Bloomfield CT.
