

Hellmuth Heinimann, 88, died Wednesday, May 6, 2015 in the loving arms of his youngest daughter. He leaves his wife of 60 years, Marguerite (Gurgigno) Heinimann; his son, Helmut Marcus Heinimann; his daughter Carole and son-in-law Bobby Hyde; his daughter Audrey and son-in-law Craig Saharek and grandchildren, Alexandra Elisa and Luke Steven; his Swiss siblings, brother Andre and sister Sonja. He will be missed by other extended relatives in Switzerland, Canada and Connecticut. He was predeceased in 1994 by his daughter, Domenica Elisa Heinimann Torrance, the former 1974 Miss Connecticut. He was also recently predeceased by his brothers, William and Marcus Heinimann. Born and raised in Switzerland, the son of Walter and Elisabeth (Senn) Heinimann, he became the youngest Master Sergeant in the Swiss Army at the age of 19. He immigrated to North America in 1949. He was employed at United Technologies and was an Inspection Supervisor. He traveled throughout the world for over 20 years, retiring in 1989. He was a master gourmet chef who was always proud that he taught Adult Education cooking classes at Farmington High School and Wethersfield High School. He particularly enjoyed preparing elegant dinners for the priests at the Church of the Incarnation and the Bishops of the Archdiocese of Hartford.
A Mass of Christian Burial celebrating the life of Hellmuth will be held on Saturday, May 9th at 11:00 a.m. at The Church of the Incarnation in Wethersfield. Please go directly to the church.
