

Ida (Pietroiusti) Gentile, 94, of South Windsor, beloved wife of the late Louis Gentile, passed away peacefully on June 25, 2021. Ida was born on November 21, 1926 in Cerchio, Italy, she was the daughter of the late Giovanni and Domenica (Ciofani) Pietroiusti. Ida moved to the United States when she was a young girl. She worked for many years as an Administrative Assistant for L & G Construction, LLC. Most of all, she was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. She was the happiest when her family and friends surrounded the dinner table where they enjoyed her delicious homemade meals and shared some great stories. Her meatballs were her specialty and her recipe unmatched. Ida also enjoyed her visits to Foxwoods Casino.
She will be missed by her children Caroline McCusker and her husband James of South Windsor, Thomas Gentile and his wife Ann of Vernon. She will be especially missed by her cherished grandchildren, Christopher Armstrong and his wife Samantha, Brian Gentile, Daniel Gentile and his wife Samantha and their children Marabella and Jackson. She also leaves her sister Loreta Pietroiusti along with her dear nephew Franco D’Amore and his daughter Valeria. In addition to her husband and parents, Ida was predeceased by her two sisters and one brother.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, July 7, 2021, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Boulevard, Wethersfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, July 8, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church, 26 Wintonbury Avenue, Bloomfield. Everyone is asked to meet directly at church. Burial will immediately follow at Mount St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 111 Founders Plaza 2nd floor, East Hartford, CT 06108.
