Irene Rose Mueller, 83, longtime resident of Wethersfield, passed on to a better life on June 30, 2018 after a long brave battle with cancer. Irene was the devoted wife for 64 years of the late Howland H. Mueller. She was born on July 24, 1934 in Richmond, Virginia, but was raised in an orphanage run by the Reverend John Vogel, who was like a dad to her. Irene was a longtime member of First Church of Christ, Wethersfield and she volunteered in many different ways at the church. She loved spending her summers swimming with her friends at Mill Woods, rooting on the Red Sox and at home, she spent many hours tending to her garden, sewing, cooking and going on long walks. Most of all, Irene loved to give of herself to people around her and treasured time spent with her family, with whom she stayed close to her whole life.
Irene will forever be remembered by her three children, John H. Mueller of Wethersfield, Alan Mueller of Milton, FL and Sharon and her husband Stephen McGee of Wethersfield; her grandchildren, Joseph, Patrick and Michael McGee and her great-grandchildren Ursula, Nathan and Tabitha McGee.
Calling hours will be Thursday, July 5, from 10-11 a.m. concluding with a funeral service at 11 a.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Boulevard, Wethersfield. Burial will follow in Village Cemetery, Wethersfield.
