Isabel D. Chaves

Isabel D. Chaves, 61, of Wethersfield, beloved wife for 38 years of Antonio B. Chaves, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Thursday, July 14, 2016. Born in Santa Maria, Azores, Portugal on March 19, 1955, she was the daughter of the late Manuel Tavares and Maria Conceicao Duarte. Isabel worked as an underwriter for CT Mutual for many years prior to working for Phoenix Insurance Company. She was a longtime faithful communicant of Our Lady of Fatima Church, Hartford and a member of the Holy Ghost Portuguese Society, East Hartford. More than anything, however, she was a loving wife, mother and grandmother whose life revolved around her family. In addition to her devoted husband Antonio, Isabel will be dearly missed by her daughters, Sandra Melissa Johnston and husband Michael of Hinesville, GA and Cristina Marie Chaves of Wethersfield; her adored grandson, Anthony Joseph Daiello; her brother, Jose Duarte Chaves of Portugal; two sisters, Maria Natalia Monteiro of Wethersfield and Maria Elvira Leonardo of Canada, as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends.

Funeral services will be Monday at 9 a.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Church, Hartford. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford. Calling hours will be Sunday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
