

Jacqueline M. Holbrook, of Wethersfield, passed away on Wednesday, July 13, 2016. Born in Hartford, she was the daughter of the late Ann W. McMann and Leo J. McMann. Her childhood was spent in Manchester and West Hartford. After graduating from Hall High School, she attended the Teachers College of New Britain (now Central Connecticut State University). She then earned her Master’s Degree at Columbia University in New York, and completed her Sixth Year Degree at UCLA. Jackie’s professional career began at the Dawson School in Hartford. She also taught at Los Corritos and the Lowell School in Long Beach, California and the Morley School in West Hartford. She completed her career in education publishing, retiring after 20 years of service. Jackie was a voracious reader, always interested in the world around her, a nature lover, an artist, and writer. She treasured her family and friends. She was predeceased by her husband, Ray Holbrook; her sister, Marjorie A. Jordan and her nephew, Jonathan M. Jordan. She leaves her nephew, Michael T. Jordan and his wife Sally; niece, Margaret A. Morill and her husband Timothy; nephew, Thomas J. Jordan; nephew, Christopher P. Jordan and his wife Diane and step-daughter, Frances Holbrook. She is also survived by eight grand-nieces and nephews and two great-grand nieces and nephews.
Calling hour will be Friday (July 22) from 1-2 p.m. followed by a funeral service at 2 p.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield. Burial will be in Rose Hill Memorial Park, Rocky Hill. Aunt Jackie always believed that “Flowers were for the living.” Any donation in her memory may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
