

James Henry Fontaine, 77, of Hartford, beloved husband of Claudette (Dupre) Fontaine, passed away peacefully on April 15, 2016 with his family by his side. James was born on April 19, 1938 in Concord, NH and was the son of the late Henry and Helen (Hughes) Fontaine. James was honorably discharged from the U.S. Army on December 31, 1967. He worked at Pratt & Whitney Aircraft for many years, did warehouse work, and in his retirement years worked as a security officer. James was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great- grandfather. In addition to his wife of 50 years, James leaves behind his son, James R. Fontaine and his wife Laurie of Tolland and his daughter, Michelle Fontaine of New Britain and Wesley Iskra. He also leaves his adored grandchildren; Shyanne, Carlina, Ivy Lynne, Charlie Kate, Alton James, Amanda, Jordan and his cherished great-granddaughter, Ella Marie. They love and will miss their Poppa very much. James also leaves his brothers, Douglas Fontaine and Michael Baldaia and his sisters, Beverly Bennette, Linda Baldaia, Christine Gagnan, and the late Barbara Fowler, along with several nieces and nephews.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday (April 20) from 5-7 p.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Boulevard, Wethersfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday (April 21) at 10 a.m. at St. Lawrence O’Toole Church, 494 New Britain Avenue, Hartford. Everyone is asked to meet at church. Burial with military honors will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford. In lieu of flowers, please send donations in memory of James H.
