Jean (Mantello) Donza, 92, of Wethersfield, beloved wife of the late Dominick J. Donza passed away peacefully with her family by her side. Jean was born on June 12, 1934, in Hartford and was the daughter of the late John and Elena (Polce) Mantelllo. Jean grew up in Hartford’s South End; she was a graduate of Bulkeley High School. Jean worked as a Medical Secretary at Hartford hospital for over 20 years. Always devoted to her family, as her children were growing up, she was involved in all of their activities and volunteered for the PTA. Jean was the center of all the family holidays; she made sure wonderful memories were created for every gathering. She also loved the beach, Jean loved to spend her summers at Sound View. She was an extremely religious woman, devout to her faith. Jean was an ordained Franciscan minister; she attended Mass daily and prayed faithfully. She was also a lover of animals.
Jean will be dearly missed by her children, Thomas J. Donza of Wethersfield, Lisa Troiani and her husband Richard of Newington and Maria Wilcox and her husband Christopher of Wethersfield. She also leaves her cherished grandchildren, Daniel Prokop, Paul Prokop, Melanie Prokop and Kristina Donza.
In addition to her husband and parents, Jean was predeceased by her siblings, Marguerite Rudewicz, James Mantello and John Mantello.
Jean’s family would like to thank the staff at Salmon Brook of Glastonbury for the kind and compassionate care of their mom.
The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday, August 17 from 4 to 7 p.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Boulevard, Wethersfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 18 at 10 a.m. at Christ the King Parish at Incarnation Church, 544 Prospect Street, Wethersfield. Everyone is asked to meet directly at church. Burial will follow at Rose Hill Memorial Park, Elm Street, Rocky Hill.
