
John J. Mandzuk, 94, of Wethersfield, beloved husband for 59 years of Mary Frances (D'Atri) Mandzuk, passed away Monday (January 3, 2011) at Hartford Hospital. Born in Manchester, he was the son of the late Paul Mandzuk, Sr. and Anne (Stefanik) Mandzuk and had lived in Wethersfield since 1959. Prior to his retirement he was employed by Spencer Turbine Co. of Windsor for thirty-nine years and for many years worked at John's Deli on New Britain Ave., Hartford. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II, serving in Japan. He enjoyed music, had studied trumpet under Mr. Rizza and had enjoyed playing with Italian bands and many parades in Hartford. Besides his wife, he is survived by his sister, Frances Royer of Hartford; two nieces, Janice Dean in Texas and Evelyn Mandzuk of West Hartford; a nephew, Brian Royer and his wife Breeda and their children Patrick and Caitlin of Freemont, NH and his sister-in-law, Bertha Sylvester of West Hartford. He was predeceased by two brothers, Andrew Mandzuk and Paul Mandzuk. The funeral is Thursday at 10:45 a.m. from the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd. Wethersfield, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. in the Church of the Incarnation, 544 Prospect St., Wethersfield. Burial will be in Village Cemetery, Wethersfield with full military honors. The family will receive relatives and friends today (Wednesday) from 2-6 p.m. at the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel.
