Joseph “Joe” A. Altomare, 65, of West Hartford, beloved husband for 24 years of the late Donna (Garguilo) Altomare, passed away peacefully after a long illness on Thursday, May 15, 2025. Born in Queens, NY on August 4, 1959, he was the son of the late Mauro and Theresa (Aloi) Altomare. Joe was an Account Manager for Healthcare Services Group for many years. He was 36-year active member and sponsor of AA and was an avid fan of the Yankees, Giants and UConn basketball. Joe had a passion for discovering new culinary experiences. He eagerly embraced opportunities to dine at restaurants and sample diverse cuisines. He was always happy and ready to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it.
A loving father and grandfather, Joe will be forever missed by his two daughters, Lisa Altomare of West Hartford and Antoinette Altomare of New Orleans, LA and his grandson, Jesse of New York. He is also survived by his sister, Maria Lewis and husband Mike of Windsor; his cousin, Dominick Aloi of Long Island, NY and many extended family members and friends. The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, May 30 from 3-7 p.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Boulevard, Wethersfield. Burial in Fairview Cemetery will be private at the convenience of the family.
