

Joseph “Joey” Alan DiMaggio, 77, of Wethersfield, passed away peacefully at home Saturday, September 27, 2025. He was born March 4, 1948, in Hartford and was the son of the late Angelo and Anna (Christiano) DiMaggio. Joe grew up in Hartford attending St. Peter Church & School, where he was also an altar server and a member of the choir. Joe was a graduate of South Catholic High School and went on to graduate from the Ward School. He was the Chief Engineer for Channel 30 News, retiring after more than 47 years of dedicated service in the broadcasting industry. His commitment to broadcasting was recognized in 2015 when Joe was inducted into the CT Broadcasters Association Hall of Fame. Joe was a perfectionist in his trade and committed to always making sure the Television Towers were in working order. He had a passion for repairing and restoring old radios and was a member of the Antique Radio Club, Vintage Radio Museum and the American Radio Relay League. In addition, Joe enjoyed astronomy, photography, attending UFO meetings, and listening to music. Joe held a pilot’s license, and in his younger days enjoyed piloting small planes.
He will always be remembered as being a kind, gentle and extremely helpful person who will be missed by everyone who knew him, especially his sister Mary Lynn DiMaggio of Wethersfield, his cousins Angela Christiano of Wethersfield and Thomas Christiano of South Windsor.
The DiMaggio family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, October 8 from 4-7 p.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Boulevard, Wethersfield.
