Joseph Edward Tremblay, 89, beloved husband of the late Madeline Anne (Straka) Tremblay. Born on May 12, 1933 in New Bedford, MA, he was the son of the late Joseph Ludger and Marie Donia (Poisson) Tremblay. As a child, Joe's family moved frequently, living in various states, while his father worked as a chef, finally settling in West Hartford. Joe was an ambitious young man delivering newspapers and working at the Rockledge Country Club. After graduating from Hall High School, he was drafted for the Korean War, where he served as an Army Military Police. When Joe returned, he attended Hillyer College (University of Hartford) while starting his career at Chandler Evans. Joe worked in the Quality Control Department overseeing the fuel pump operations and retired after 43 years of dedicated service. In 1957, he married the love of his life, Madeline, with whom he was happily married for 48 year. Joe’s greatest joys were simple: time with his wife, his sons, and family, walks, summer in the pool, winter with a fire, grilling and red wine. Highlights were family Super Bowl parties and Holiday gatherings. He was an avid Red Sox fan, making an annual event of taking his sons to Boston for a game. Vacations were always at a beach; enjoying Cape Cod and Longboat Key sunsets. Though he was a quiet man, his love for his family was present and his witty comments leaving us with a smile. Joe will be dearly missed. Joseph is survived by his sister Joanne A. Cappa and brother-in- law Michael A. Cappa; his sons Joseph J. and wife Cynthia (Shea) Tremblay, Kenneth R. Tremblay and wife Beverly Schako; grandchildren Christopher (Katelynd) Tremblay, Michelle (James) Tremblay, Allison (Jordan) Chamberlin, Benjamin Tremblay (fiancé Sarah Allen), Alexander Tremblay, Julia Tremblay, Katelyn Tremblay. As well as his nieces and nephew Barbara J. (Cappa) Bernhart, Cathie Cappa, John Straka and Anne (Straka) Kennedy and a great-grandaughter, Ameila Tremblay. Sadly Joseph is predeceased by his wife Madeline Anne and son John S. Tremblay.
The family would like to give special thanks to Hartford Hospital ICU staff for the exceptional care provided. To his home caregiver Arfat Haji, for her unending patience and compassion, and to a special niece, Cathie Cappa, who selflessly baked him his favorite, oatmeal cookies.
