Josephine D. Vignone, 97, of Wethersfield, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 12, 2018 at St. Francis Hospital with her loving niece by her side. Born in Hartford on October 27, 1921, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Antoinette (Pontillo) Vignone and had lived in the area all her life. Josephine worked for the former M. Swift & Son Gold Leaf in Hartford for 48 years, retiring as a supervisor. She was a longtime faithful communicant of the Church of the Incarnation in Wethersfield and was dedicated to her daily rosary and the daily Mass by the Archdiocesan Office of Radio and Television. She was also a member of the Third Order of Carmelites, the St. Francis Hospital Women’s Auxiliary and the former Luna Social Club in Hartford. She was an avid reader and a meticulous housekeeper. Josephine will be dearly missed by her devoted niece and goddaughter, Antoinette “Toni” M. Munoz; her nephew, Michael J. Vignone, Sr. and wife Doris and their son Michael J. Vignone, Jr.; her sister-in-law, Helen Vignone; great-niece and great-nephew, Alyssa Nicole Vignone and Nicholas Raphael Vignone and their mother, Sharon Cushman Vignone. She was predeceased by two brothers, John A. Vignone, Sr. and Raphael J. Vignone; three sisters, Angeline T. Vignone, Christine Vignone Munoz and Anna Maria Vignone Pedemonti and husband Joseph Pedemonti; her nephew, John A. Vignone, Jr. and her uncle, John Pontillo. Special thanks to those who cared for her and supported, especially, Dr. Kathleen Kennedy, Dr. Sankar Niranjan and Dr. Michael Teiger, and in years past, Dr. Daniel Marshall, as well as the physicians and staff of St. Francis Hospital Immediate Care Unit 8 West.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday (December 15) at 11 a.m. at the Church of the Incarnation, 544 Prospect St. Wethersfield. Everyone is asked to please go directly to the church. Burial will follow in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. There are no calling hours.
