Karin Ute Stalph, 77, of Cromwell and formerly Windsor, passed away unexpectedly, but very peacefully, on Tuesday, October 13, 2015 at home. Born in Gera, Germany on June 6, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Rudolph and Katie (Schlutter) Limmer. Karin was a pharmacist in Germany prior to coming to the U.S. She was formerly employed by G. Fox & Co. where she assimilated into the culture of the United States, and made many lifelong friends, honing her expertise in retail. Karin was then the manager of the Pratt & Whitney Aircraft Club stores for many years. Karin was an author and writer for many German publications, with a prolifically curious spirit. Karin loved spending time with her friends and family, especially her grandchildren. She had some very dear friends in Germany and although she could not see them often, spoke with them so regularly that the distance between them seemed to fade away. Karin loved nature, finding joy and amazement in all animals, particularly birds and their habits. She will be dearly missed by her friends and family. Karin is survived by her son, Clifton P. Stalph and wife Gloria (Santiglia) Stalph of Wethersfield; two adored grandchildren, Mason C. Stalph and Kayla E. Stalph and her cousin, who was more like a sister, Barbara Schneider and husband Michael of Berlin, Germany. She was predeceased by her husband, Gunter J. Stalph and very dear friend and companion, Steven Hounchell.
A memorial remembrance service to celebrate Karin’s life will be Thursday, October 29 at 6 p.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield. Friends may visit with the family at the funeral home two hours prior to the service, from 4-6 p.m. Following Karin’s wishes, burial will be private.
