Kathie was an avid Boston Red Sox fan and she enjoyed watching UConn Men’s and Woman’s basketball teams. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the Avery Heights Assisted Living team who enriched the quality of her life and to the Hartford Hospital Bliss Wing 11th Floor Stepdown Unit for their remarkable care and concern. Kathie is survived by her two sisters, Judi Gilligan and her husband Bob and Lu St. Germain and her husband Rob, both of Wethersfield. She is also survived by her nephew, Keith St. Germain and her three nieces, Sarah St. Germain Smith, Beth Gilligan and Holly Gilligan. Kathie is also survived by her special friend, Bernie Harrower. She was always appreciative of the love and support she received from extended family and friends. Besides her parents, Kathie was predeceased by her beloved step-mother, Ann Zito. A memorial service will be held on Saturday (November 17) at 11 A.M. at Immanuel Congregational Church, 10 Woodland St., Hartford. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, donations in Kathie’s memory may be made to the National M.S. Society CT Chapter, 659 Tower Avenue, Hartford, CT 06112 – for research of Primary Progressive MS. You will be missed Kathy. I am sorry we lost touch the last few years and glad to hear you enjoyed Avery Heights. Kathy was always a delight to see each year as I did her taxes. She was cheerful and had a good sense of humor. She will be deeply missed by many. My condolences to both her sisters, she talked about you both many times. My condolences to all of her family and close friends. You are now in good hands.

Kathy was a favorite participant of mine when I taught water exercise at Avery Heights years back. She always had a smile and was a joy to be around. I am sorry for your loss and will miss her when I visit or sub at Avery Heights.

Kathie, you will be missed. You inherited my mom’s pig collection and I loved seeing my childhood knickknacks in their new home. You taught me to cross country ski and appreciate rural New England. You instilled my love for VT. May you Rest In Peace. XO

My heart is broken. You were loved immensely. My kids loved the time they spent with you, especially visiting Your West Hartford home, walking the trails behind the house and hearing about your piggies. Every pig we see reminds them of you! I appreciated the joy you brought my dad. I am thankful for the memories we created together. I’ll miss our chats. Love, Stefanie, Chris, Liz, Ben, Amelia, Elaina & Alexander
