

Kenneth Carter, 79, of Hartford, passed away peacefully on (September 28, 2013). He was born in Pittsburgh, PA on February 5, 1934, the son of the late Otis and Maragaret (Bryant) Carter. Kenneth was a Manager at the Open Hearth Shelter in Hartford. He was a musician who played the saxophone and was very involved with the Hartford Jazz Society, he was also a representative of the American Heart and Stroke Association. Kenneth was a volunteer at St. Francis and Hartford Hospital, for many years playing his saxophone for all the patients. Kenneth also played with Jeff Pitchell and the Texas Flood Band, he enjoyed the musical company of several local musicians as well as playing with some of the jazz greats which included B.B. King, Miles Davis and Sam Kimball. He leaves his wife Quree Carter of Bloomfield his son Kevin Carter and his wife Helen of Brooklyn, NY, his daughter Pamela Carter of Brooklyn, NY. He also leaves his stepsons Rodrick Edwards, Mark Edwards and Corwin Pearson along with his grandchildren, Kheiyasa Carter, Khierrah Carter, Maryka Carter, Kenneth Julian Joseph and Kevin Graham Carter. In addition he leaves his sisters Francis Lewis of VA, Renee Pamplin of PA and Pamela and David Strozier of PA along with many friends.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday October 5th at 2p.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Boulevard, Wethersfield.
