

Laura (Bozzone) Gozzo, 84, of Newington, the beloved wife of Frank Gozzo for 64 years, passed away peacefully on Sunday, (August 23, 2009) with her family by her bedside. She was born May 3, 1925 in New York City, NY and was the daughter of the late Marino and Madeline (Fiora) Bozzone. She lived in Newington for 54 years and was a longtime faithful communicant of St. Mary's Church. Besides her husband, Laura is survived by her three loving daughters, Pamela Benoit and her husband, Tom of Wethersfield, Janice Streeter and her husband, Bruce of Houston, TX and Debra Gozzo of West Hartford; her sisters, Joan Mangiafico and her husband, Aldo and Joyce Lenti and her husband, Michael, all of Newington; her sister-in-law, Mary Mazzarella and her husband, Sal of Plainville; her four cherished grandchildren, Christopher Benoit and his wife, Tracy of Manchester, Carrie Benoit of Middletown, Allyson Drinnon and her husband, Steve of Americus, GA and Neil Streeter of Orlando, FL; four adored great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Laura was an active supporter of HARC, a Girl Scout leader and, more than anything, a provider of love and care to parents, in-laws, children, grandchildren and an extended family of neighbors and friends. Laura and Frank did not know the word NO whenever help was needed by this wide-reaching extended family. She will surely be missed by many. Laura enjoyed traveling and visiting Europe, Hawaii, Las Vegas and most of the islands in the Caribbean. A special thanks to the staff of Station 2 at Avery Heights, especially Justina, Sandra, Ann and Linda for the loving care they extended to Laura the past 18 months. The family also wishes to thank Kathi from the Masonicare Hospice Program. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Church, 626 Willard Avenue, Newington. Everyone is asked to go directly to church. The burial will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Park, Rocky Hill. Calling hours are Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield.
