

Leona Margaret (Jedziniak) Ignatowicz, 83, of Wethersfield, loving wife of the late Stanley A. Ignatowicz, died peacefully on Thursday (March 26, 2009). She was born September 7, 1925 in Hartford and was the daughter of the late Leon and Bernice (Michalski) Jedziniak. Leona was employed by CNG and later CBT, retiring several years ago. She was a longtime faithful communicant of Corpus Christi Church and a member of the Women's Club. Leona volunteered at the CT Children's Hospital; she was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox and UCONN Women's Basketball. She will be dearly missed by her loving daughters, Karen Dressel and her husband, George of Cumberland, ME and Janice Daneault of Niantic. She also leaves behind four grandchildren, Bridget and Sam Dressel and Katherine and Alyssa Daneault; a brother, Chester Jedziniak and his wife, Virginia of Wethersfield; a sister, Jane Ricard of Southington as well as nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Edward Jedziniak. A very special thank you to the doctors, nurses and staff at Wethersfield Health Care for the love and compassion shown to Leona and her family during her illness. Also, a very special thank you to Dr. Stephen Firshein and his cohorts. Funeral Service will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. from the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at Corpus Christi Church, Wethersfield. The burial will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Park, Rocky Hill. Calling hour will be Saturday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. at the funeral chapel.
