Leonard Joseph “Lenny” Riccio 75, of New Britain, loving father, grandfather, great grandfather, and dear friend, peacefully passed away Saturday, May 8, 2021 at home. Lenny was born in Palermo, Sicily, one of three children to Pasquale C. and Anna (Donato) Riccio. He resided in New Britain from 2005 to present.
Lenny was employed in the food service industry for over 45 years, where his most recent job was Sales Rep for RDD Associates, prior to his retirement in (2018). He was a member of the Teamsters Union for many years.
In his free time, Lenny loved to fish, play cards and visit the casinos. He was a devoted fan of sports, especially the New York Jets. In addition, Lenny had a love for cats and being a protector of animals. Most important to Lenny was time spent with his family, whether it was sharing a meal, watching a sporting event, texting each other, or just hanging out.
Lenny will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his loving family; his son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Janice (Lancia) Riccio in New Britain; three adored grandchildren, Zachary Riccio and Ashley and Bryanna Perron; two great granddaughters, Kylah Sharpe and Khali Jenkins, He also leaves his loving companion Linda Casanova of Hartford; many nieces, grandnieces and a host of extended family and friends.
In addition to his parents, a brother, William “Billy” Riccio and a sister, Rosalie Riccio, predeceased Lenny.
As Lenny was an avid sports fan, please feel free to wear your favorite sports team apparel in his honor.
Friends and relatives may pay their respects to the Riccio family Monday, May 17, 2021 from 9:15 – 10:15am at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Boulevard, Wethersfield, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00am in St. Augustine Church, 10 Campfield Ave., Hartford. Entombment will in the Mausoleum in Mount St. Benedict Cemetery, 1 Cottage Grove Rd., Bloomfield. Masks and social distancing guidelines will continue to be adhered to.
