Librada (Cruz) Lopez, 93, of Hartford, beloved wife of the late Manuel Lopez, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, February 6, 2019. Born in Cidra, Puerto Rico on March 25, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Inocencio and Petronila (Gonzalez) Cruz. Librada was known in Charter Oak Terrace, where she used to live, as the caregiver for the whole neighborhood. She would always babysit for the kids. Raising her family was her greatest joy and she will be forever missed by her five children, Victor Manuel “Manny” Lopez and wife Irma of Cape Cod, MA, Angelo Peter “Pete” Lopez of Manchester, Ramon “Ray” Lopez and wife Susie of West Hartford, Rosa Fontanez of Lowell, MA and Aida Lopez of West Hartford; adored grandchildren, Kayla, Alyssa, Victor Jr., Stephanie, Raymond, Jessica, Mildred, Evelyn, Maria, Aida and Linda and her cherished great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She is also survived by many dear nieces, nephews, extended family members and friends. She was sadly predeceased by her beloved grandson, Ramon Lopez, Jr. and her son-in-law, Raymond Fontanez along with all of her siblings. Special thanks to Librada’s three granddaughters, Maria(with whom she made her home with) along with Aida and Linda. These woman devoted so much of their time to Librada's care for many years.
Calling hours will be Monday (February 11) from 10:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. followed by Words of Remembrance at 12:00 p.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield.
