Lillian Quagliano

Lillian “Lil” (Benvenga) Quagliano, 92, of Wethersfield, beloved wife for 52 years of the late Vincent “Jimmy” Quagliano, peacefully entered into eternal rest at her home surrounded by her loving family on Monday, July 20, 2026. Born in Sassano, province of Salerno, Italy on February 24, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Francesco and Anna Rosa (DiMiele) Benvenga. Lil and Jimmy married in Italy and came to the United States in February of 1954, settling in Hartford and then Wethersfield to raise their family. Prior to her retirement, Lil was employed for 39 years by Hartford Ball Company in Rocky Hill, where she was a Chief Inspector. She enjoyed being a “snowbird” resident of Hypoluxo, FL for the past 38 years. A devout Catholic, she was a longtime faithful communicant of the Church of the Incarnation in Wethersfield, where she was a former member of the Ladies Guild. She was also a longtime member of the Mt. Carmel-St. Cristina Society. A very talented seamstress, sewing was Lil’s passion She loved to make dresses and all different clothes for her family to wear. She was an avid shopper, especially at Marshall’s, where she would buy clothes for her children and grandsons. She missed her calling as she had an eye for fashion. Lil also had a passion for singing operatic style, belting in the streets of her neighborhood. She and Jimmy enjoyed playing cards together and she loved cooking for her grandsons.

A loving mother and grandmother, Lil will be forever missed by her three children, Mary Joyce Quagliano of Wethersfield, with whom she made her home, John Quagliano and wife Micky of Andover and Frank Quagliano and life partner Linda Conway of Glastonbury, and her three adored grandsons, who were the loves of her life, Justin Quagliano of Windsor Locks, Adam Quagliano of Lebanon and Eric Quagliano of Windsor Locks. She is also survived by her twin brother, Clemente Benvenga and wife Michelina of Wethersfield, as well as several nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends. In addition to her husband and parents, Lil was predeceased by her sister, Maria DelCorpo. The family wishes to thank Dr. Niko Broodie-Murray, Dr. Srimathi Manickaratnam and their staff for the professionalism, care, compassion and love given to Lillian and her entire family.

Funeral services will begin on Tuesday, July 28 at 9 a.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Boulevard, Wethersfield followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at the Church of the Incarnation of Christ the King Parish, 544 Prospect Street, Wethersfield. Burial will be in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
