Linda Collins, 61, of Newington, formerly of Wethersfield, passed away on Saturday, December 24, 2022 at St. Francis Hospital. She was a survivor of stage four Ovarian Cancer, which she battled courageously and without complaint for eleven years, far exceeding expectations.
Linda was born in Hartford on April 17, 1961, daughter of the late Lawrence and Barbara (Manning) Tyler. Growing up in Wethersfield, she was a lifelong parishioner of Corpus Christi Church. She earned her BS from Eastern Connecticut State College and her Masters of Business Administration from the University of Hartford. She was employed by the Travelers Insurance Company for over 30 years in various capacities.
Linda enjoyed playing volleyball, softball and golf and was a volunteer worker for many years at the Travelers Golf Tournament. She was an avid Boston Red Sox fan. In addition, she followed UConn Men’s and Women’s basketball teams and was a season ticket holder for the UConn Football team. She loved to travel and especially enjoyed her bi-annual trips to Myrtle Beach.
She will be remembered always for her kindness, and positive spirit. She could strike up a conversation with anyone and often would. Her selflessness was especially evident in the dedicated care that she provided to her mother for many years.
Linda is survived by her longtime partner, Stephen Drew, with whom she resided; a brother Thomas Tyler and his wife Mary of Wethersfield; two nieces, Amy Allred and her husband Brendan of Trumbull and their children, Brendan, John Peter and Elizabeth Allred and Lauren Tyler and her fiancé Nick Friar of Nashua, NH. She will also be fondly remembered by Stephen’s three children, Jeff, Stephen and Erin and their children, Hannah, Lauryn, Jonathan and Andrew, who affectionately knew her as “Grandma Linda”.
The family will receive relatives and friends from 4 to 7 p.m. on Thursday (December 29th) at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield.
