Lucille Kerins LaPenna

Lucille (Kerins) LaPenna, 86, of Rocky Hill, formerly of 66 Crest Street, Wethersfield, loving wife of the late Francis L. “Frank” LaPenna, Sr. for 54 years, died peacefully, Thursday, February 26, 2015 at The Atria Greenridge Place in Rocky Hill with her devoted family by her side. She was born December 19, 1928 in Hartford and was the daughter of the late Patrick and Rose (Drummond) Kerins. She was a graduate of Weaver High School, class of 1945. Lucille was a longtime faithful communicant of Corpus Christi Church, Wethersfield and a member of the Women’s Club. She was also very active in the Wethersfield school system. She will be dearly missed by her family and many friends. She was sadly predeceased by her son, Frankie LaPenna, Jr. She is survived by her loving children and their spouses, Louis P. and Janice LaPenna of Glastonbury, Phyllis L. and Thomas Madigan of Chester, MD and Ellie L. and Peter Vancisin of Rocky Hill; her seven adored grandchildren, Lenore Rath and husband Brendan, Lori McClelland and husband Josh, Leslie Wadel and husband Matt, Michelle Martin and fiancé Dean Russell, Sophia LaPenna and fiancé Tommy Heslin, Leah LaPenna and Adam Vancisin and five cherished great-grandchildren, Jack, Madigan, Tyler, Grady and Jameson. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Domenick LaPenna and wife Karen of Ft. Myers, FL and her sister, Mitzi LaChance and husband Eddy of Rocky Hill. In addition to her husband and son, she was predeceased by her sister, Katherine McGuire. A special thank you to the staff at The Atria, especially Cassandra, Gillian and Viola for the care, love and compassion shown to Lucille and her family.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday at 10 a.m. at Corpus Christi Church, 601 Silas Deane Highway, Wethersfield. Everyone is asked to please go directly to the church. The burial will be in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. Calling hours are Sunday from 3-6 p.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield.
