Lucy Bordonaro, 101, of Wethersfield, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 21, 2022 at the Hospital of Central Connecticut. Born in Hartford on November 22, 1920, she was the daughter of the late Sebastiano and Carmela Bordonaro. Lucy worked for 25 years as a payroll clerk for First National Stores and then for 13 years as a route accountant for Continental Baking-Wonder Bread, both in East Hartford, retiring in 1986. Lucy was a fantastic cook who loved hosting dinners for her family and friends and she enjoyed knitting. She was a longtime faithful communicant of Corpus Christi Church, Wethersfield.
Lucy is survived by her niece, Iris Smith of Meriden; her great-nephew, Donald Bordonaro, Jr. and great-niece, Carol Ann Bordonaro. She was predeceased by her brother, Corrado Bordonaro and his wife Armine and her infant sister, Lucia Bordonaro. Special thanks to the wonderful staff at Bel-Air Manor for the care and compassion shown to Lucy during her stay.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, September 29 at 10 a.m. at Christ the King Parish (Corpus Christi Church), 601 Silas Deane Highway, Wethersfield. Burial will follow in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, Bloomfield. There are no calling hours. Donations in Lucy’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
