Marc Joseph DeNovellis, of Rocky Hill, beloved son of Jean (Capasso) DeNovellis of Rocky Hill and the late V. Anthony ‘Tony’ DeNovellis, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, November 18, 2021. Born on October 27, 1960, Marc grew up in Hartford and graduated from Bulkeley High School, class of 1978. He earned his Bachelor’s degree from Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, NY in Art and Design Education, and his Master’s in Education from Central Connecticut State University. In September, 2018 Marc was honored to receive the Courage Award from the CT Brain Tumor Alliance in recognition of his positivity and perseverance. An extremely talented artist, Marc’s works included paintings, illustrations, prints, sculpture and photography. His artwork was showcased in galleries throughout Connecticut. Marc’s passion for art also led him to become an art teacher for 18 years. Marc’s second passion was his DJ career which began in nightclubs. He spinned that into a business, playing music at weddings and various celebrations. Mostly, Marc was extremely dedicated to his family and friends and cherished his time with them. If there was a family gathering, Marc was always present. In his spare time Marc loved playing softball and golf, and rooting for his beloved Red Sox and Lakers. In addition to his mother Jean, Marc will be forever missed by his son, Justin DeNovellis of Florida; three siblings, Craig DeNovellis of Newington, Tina Pitruzzello and husband Gregory of Cromwell and Bryan DeNovellis and wife Cathy of New Jersey and seven nieces and nephews, Nichole, Daniella, Julia and Talya Pitruzzello and Jayson, Emmi and Naomi DeNovellis, as well as many dear aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family members and friends. Special thanks to the staff and directors at the Jefferson House in Newington, as well as the CT Brain Tumor Alliance. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, November 23 at 11 a.m. at St. John Church, 5 St. John Court, Cromwell. Everyone is asked to please go directly to the church. Entombment will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford. Family and friends may call on Monday from 4-7 p.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Boulevard, Wethersfield. Heartfelt condolences to Justin, Mrs. DeNovellis, Craig, Tina, Bryan, and the entire DeNovellis family.

I am honored to have worked with Marc in the Bloomfield Public Schools. He was a caring, knowledgeable teacher that students respected and sought out. He easily connected with people.

Marc became friends with nearly everyone he met. A talented visual artist, Marc also had an impressive command of a wide range of music. While the major leagues weren't in his cards, he valued all the trips to Fenway with Craig, especially recent ones.

Attached is a small part of a print that Marc created in 2018, following his return to work in Bloomfield. A complete print is housed at the Hospital for Special Care.

Marc will be deeply missed.
Keeping the DeNovellis Family in our thoughts and prayers.

Mary & I were saddened to read of Marc's passing. We have nothing but wonderful memories of all the times we spent with both Marc & Craig at JP's restaurant. Marc had such a great disposition, when our flag football team would lose by 60 points, most of us would be pointing fingers as to why we were so bad. Marc's main concern was where we were going to drown our sorrow.
Thanks for the memories Marc, your family & friends are in our thoughts,
Mary & Ron Kendall

To Jean and Marc’s family. We met Marc through my son Liam’s best friend Ger McCusker and they have been friends since kindergarten. Marc and Ger had many great times together as we used to hear about Marc’s sister and brothers and Justin thru Ger and always asked about Marc, as once you met him ,well,we loved him. His smile, personality and demeanor would always be remembered. Plus the fact that he was so handsome also helped. A true loving person and we are so sorry he had to fight this fight for so long for himself and for his family who loved him so very much. I think we all wished for a miracle.

I was fortunate to have met Marc when we were both starting out as DJ's at Smugglers Inn in Wethersfield back in 1977/1978. It was a great crowd to play for there and the place was hopping every Fri + Sat with long lines to get in...we loved it. I would pop in to see Marc on nights i was off to hear him spin and he would pop in to visit me as well.

One the most genuine and nicest guys you would ever want to meet. It was a pleasure working with Marc and glad I got to meet him. I surely understand how he will be missed so much.

Even back then, he was always positive and just nice to people. That tells me he had a great family around him all his life. Keep his memories alive folks because he deserves it. It's funny, I even remember some of his favorite tunes.

See the image I have attached, something really worth pondering on.

I hope Marc brought his DJ setup with him, so he can continue to spread the joy.

God Bless you.

I am former resident of Hartford & Rocky Hill (now live in Florida) and met Marc playing pick up basketball and playing in the Rocky Hill Mens Softball League in our younger years. If I remember correctly he played for Dr. Gabors team back then.
I never knew him personally but I gotta say he was one of the most respectful, nicest person I have ever met. He would go out of his way to say Hi to me whenever we would see each other around town and say" how's everything Tony". What a great guy!
My condolences to the family!!

Marc was an inspirational art educator in the Bloomfield Schools with such a kind manner about him. I still recall how welcoming Marc was every time I saw him, whether teaching mid-lesson, preparing for an school art event or even bumping into Marc at the New Britain Museum of Modern Art!

Too young, too soon…but Marc definitely left a legacy for all who knew him….Sending the entire DeNovellis family my deepest condolences,

Ellen Stoltz
