

Margaret “Peggy” (Quinlan) Arborio, 91, of Wethersfield, loving wife for 54 years of the late Joseph “Bing” Arborio, peacefully journeyed home to join her beloved husband on Sunday, January 7, 2024. Born in Watervliet, NY on June 8, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Ernest and Esther (Fleming) Quinlan. She met her husband Bing while working at Troy Savings Bank in 1953 and they settled in Wethersfield in 1957 to raise their family. A devout Catholic, Peggy was a longtime, faithful communicant of the Church of the Incarnation, Wethersfield. She was a member of Wethersfield Country Club and participated in the 9-Hole Ladies League. She also enjoyed her tennis at Pine Acres Swim & Tennis Club in Wethersfield. Peggy was an avid reader, gardener and was known for her simple yet delicious appetizers. She loved spending the summer at her cottage at Giants Neck Beach, Niantic for over 50 years, and spending the winter at Mariner Sands in Stuart, Florida. She and Bing enjoyed their Thursday Night Dinner Club with their dear friends, the Livingston, Friend and Rentz families, for more than 30 years at Carbone’s Restaurant in Hartford and Wethersfield Country Club. Peggy loved decorating for the holidays, especially Halloween, and family and friends looked forward to seeing the seasonal animated characters she set up. More than anything, she devoted her life to raising her family.
A loving mother and grandmother, Peggy will be forever missed by her four children, Peter Arborio and wife Karen of Wethersfield, Timothy Arborio and wife Suzanne of Cromwell, Susan Yankus of Farmington and Joseph Arborio and wife Alison of Glastonbury; seven adored grandchildren, Douglas Arborio and wife Melissa of Charlotte, NC, Alyse Etheridge and husband Michael of Revere Beach, MA, Joseph Yankus of New Haven, William Yankus and wife Lauren of West Hartford, Kristen Arborio of New York City, Ryan Arborio and John Arborio, both of Glastonbury. She is also survived by two sisters, Sr. Nancy Quinlan of the Sisters of Mercy, Albany, NY and Carol Conboy of Troy, NY; her brother-in-law, Jack Doyle of Cortland Manor, NY, as well as several, nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family members and dear friends. In addition to her husband and parents, Peggy was predeceased by her sister, Mary Doyle and her brother-in-law, Bill Conboy.
Peggy’s family will receive relatives and friends on Friday, February 2 from 3-5 p.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Boulevard, Wethersfield followed by a Celebration of Life at TPC River Highlands, 1 Golf Club Road, Cromwell. Interment will be private at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford at the convenience of the family.
