Maria (Lombardo) Musumeci

Maria (Lombardo) Musumeci, 90, of Rocky Hill, beloved wife for 50 years of the late Vincenzo Musumeci, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Monday, March 26, 2018. Born on May 13, 1927 in Priolo Gargallo, province of Siracusa, Sicily, she was the daughter of the late Salvatore and Sebastiana (Fazzina) Lombardo. Maria was a talented seamstress who previously worked for Capital Swimwear. She enjoyed knitting, cooking and baking, but her greatest joy was her family and she was happiest when they were all together. Maria was a devoted and loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who will be forever missed by her five children, Salvatore Musumeci and wife Margit of East Hartford, Angelo Musumeci and wife Piera of Berlin, Sebastiano Musumeci and wife Ellen of Florida, Francesca Guzzardi of Florida and Sebastiana Platania and husband Edmondo of East Hartford; eleven adored grandchildren, Angela, Mike, James, Maria, Geraldine, Melissa, Vincenzo, Sylvia, Maria, Anthony and Subby and several cherished great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, Maria was predeceased by four sisters. The family wishes to thank the staff of Apple Rehab in Rocky Hill for their care and compassion.

Funeral services will begin Wednesday (March 28) at 9 a.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at St. Augustine Church, 10 Campfield Ave., Hartford. Entombment will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford. Family and friends may call on Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral chapel.
