

Marilyn (Hanmer) St. Germain Fredrickson, of Avery Heights and Cranberry Island, ME, formerly of Wethersfield, died Thursday (October 7, 2010) surrounded by her loving family. She was the daughter of the late Henry Francis and Irene (Bausch) Hanmer and was a life long resident of Wethersfield. Early in her professional career she was a secretary at Mitchell School in Wethersfield and later a real estate broker, founding Village Real Estate Co. She also owned and operated Marilyn's, a gift boutique and floral decorating shop in Northeast Harbor, Maine. She was the interior designer for H. Newton Griswold's Pyquag Village development in Wethersfield. During many holiday seasons she decorated Connecticut Bank & Trust in Wethersfield and Hartford National Bank in downtown Hartford. She was a member of the Village Garden Club, the Hartford Club, the Wethersfield Country Club, the Seal Harbor Club and the Cranberry Island Tennis Club. Marilyn was an accomplished artist and her paintings were recently exhibited on Great Cranberry Island. Her passion was gardening and her island home was surrounded by beautiful gardens. Marilyn was predeceased by her husband, Robert A. St. Germain and her grandson, Thomas P. Watson Jr. She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Leslie S. and Thomas P. Watson of Wethersfield, her son and daughter-in-law, Robert A. St. Germain Jr. and his wife, Lucille of Wethersfield and her brother and sister-in-law, Henry Francis Hanmer and his wife Judith of Suffield. In addition, four grandchildren; Anne Talcott Watson, Amanda Watson Hicks and her husband Robb, Keith St. Germain and his wife Maureen and Sarah St. Germain Smith and her husband Travis as well as four great grandchildren; Abigail and Colby Hicks and Henry Thomas and Margot Parsons St. Germain. She is also survived by her second husband, Dr. Robert Fredrickson from whom she was separated, and several special friends, including her childhood friend of 82 years, Frances Kennedy of Wethersfield. A memorial service will be held on Saturday (October 16, 2010) at 11 a.m. in Trinity Episcopal Church, 300 Main St., Wethersfield with the Rev. Scott Lee officiating and assisted by the Rev. Richard Watson. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours.
