Mario Pasquale Iannucci, 77, of Wethersfield, beloved husband for 51 years of Delia (Ricci) Iannucci, passed away on Tuesday, October 5, 2021 at Hartford Hospital. Born in Solopaca, province of Benevento, Italy on January 23, 1944, he was the son of the late Alfieri and Candida (Riccardi) Iannucci. Mario owned and operated a bar in Italy prior to moving to Milan to train for plumbing. Mario brought the knowledge of his new trade to the United States in 1969, where his wife would follow and settle with him in Hartford. There, he had a long and successful career as a plumber, serving so many in the area and making countless friends along the way. As proud as Mario was of his American citizenship, he was equally proud of his Italian heritage. He was a member of the Canicattinese Society, and a huge fan of Italian soccer, his favorite team being the SSC Napoli. Mario loved going to the casino, playing cards and traveling and was reportedly one of the first to coin the phrase “Fuggedaboutit”. A loving husband, father and grandfather, Mario will be forever missed by his devoted wife Delia; his son, Giuseppe “Joseph” Iannucci of Wethersfield; his daughter, Candida Iannucci-Guay and her husband Steven of Rocky Hill and his two adored grandchildren, Anthony and Giuliana Guay. He is also survived by his great-aunt, Maria Iannucci of Wethersfield; his brother, Pio Iannucci of Wethersfield; two sisters, Maria Golino and her husband Enrico and Carmela Orfitelli, both of Wethersfield; three brothers-in-law, Pasquale Ricci and his wife Filomena, Raffelle Ricci and his wife Carmela and Gaetano Albanese and one sister-in-law, Ada Del Ciampi and her husband Antonio, all of Italy, as well as many dear nieces, nephews and cousins in the U.S. and Italy. He was predeceased by his sister-in-law, Sylvana Albanese. The family will receive relatives and friends on Sunday (October 10th) from 2-5 p.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Boulevard, Wethersfield. In accordance with local mandates, masks are required for all indoor services. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday (October 11th) at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church (Christ the King Parish), 56 Hartford Avenue, Wethersfield. Everyone is asked to please go directly to the church. Burial will follow in Village Cemetery, Wethersfield. Donations in Mario’s memory may be made to the charity of one’s choice. It will have to be with a smile that I think of calling out tombola numbers alla Napolitano, bringing lights to the Christmas picture, learning to use the zoom button on your first video camera and then yelling ,I gonna zoom you! Or comming up with the idea of taking 8 people skiing- even though no one knew how. Oh and I'm still waiting for you to fix my disposal. No we won't forgetta bowd it!
