
Marion Elizabeth (Hart) Rogers, 94, of Wethersfield, wife of the late Charles Rogers, died Sunday, (February 26, 2012) at Middlesex Memorial Hospital Hospice Care in Middletown. Born in Hartford, she was the daughter of the late Charles Ward and Mary (Heinz) Hart, and lived in Wethersfield, for most of her life. She was a graduate of Wethersfield High School, class of 1935. Marion was a direct descendant of Nathaniel Foote, one of the founders of Wethersfield, and of Thomas Munson, an original settler of New Haven who donated the land where Yale University was built. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother and sister, as her family was the most important thing to her. Marion is survived by a son, Ward Rogers and his wife Martha of Middletown; two daughters, Nancy Verzier of New Bern, NC, and Wendy Breen and her husband Jack of Southborough, MA; a sister, Dorothy Whalen of Wethersfield; as well as eight grandchildren: James, Thomas, Cynthia, Harold, Patricia, Christopher, Todd and Elisabeth, five great-grandchildren: Mason, Cody, Alexis, Brayden, and Alysabeth; and many beloved nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Charles E. Hart of Wethersfield, and her son-in-law, Robert Verzier.
The funeral service will be Tuesday, February 28 at 1 p.m. at the First Church of Christ Wethersfield, 250 Main Street, Wethersfield, with the Rev. T. Michael McDowell officiating. Burial will be in Village Cemetery, Wethersfield. There are no calling hours. The D'Esopo Funeral Chapel in Wethersfield is assisting the family with arrangements.
