

Mary (Silvestri) Sipala, 94, of New Britain, beloved wife for 60 years of the late Corrado Sipala, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by her loving family, on Monday, October 2, 2023. For the past three months she was lovingly cared for by her daughters, Angela and Donna. Born in Hartford on April 23, 1929, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Rose (Fanelli) Silvestri. Mary graduated from Weaver High School in Hartford in 1947. Mary met Corrado at the Hartford Skating Palace Roller Rink where they began dating and married shortly thereafter.
She worked at The Travelers and Hartford National Bank before devoting her life to raising her family. She was known for her delicious home cooked meals, including pizza, sausage bread, pasta fagioli, and chicken cutlets. She enjoyed watching her shows, including Everybody Loves Raymond, The Rachael Ray show, and The Waltons. She also enjoyed her word search puzzle books and kept fit, working out on her treadmill for 5-6 times a week until the age of 90.
A loving mother, Mary will be forever missed by her four adored children, a son Paul Sipala of New Britain, three daughters, Rosemary Petruff of Tucson, AZ, Angela Palen and her husband Jesse Palen of Plymouth and Donna Sipala of New Britain and her grand dog, Zoey of Tucson. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and extended family members. In addition to her husband and parents, Mary was predeceased by her sister, Madeline Fasolo and her husband Anthony, and three brothers, Peter Silvestri and his wife Catherine, John Silvestri, Louis Silvestri and his wife Minnie. She was also predeceased by her in-laws, Joseph and Leatrice Sipala, Carmelina and Joseph Sipala and Paul Sipala.
Mary’s family would like to thank Amanda Bryant, her niece Lisa Denya, Christine Santos, Zaida Colon, Carla Martins and the staff of Accent Hospice Care for the special care and attention they gave Mary during her illness.
Mary was a communicant of St. Jerome Church, New Britain and with respect to her wishes, all services will be held privately. The D’Esopo Funeral Chapel has care of arrangements.
