

Mary Antonia Yacovone, widow of her beloved husband, Laurino Yacovone, and the daughter of the late Vincenzo and Francesca (Petrella) Palombizio, passed away peacefully on Sunday, (February 26, 2006) with her loving family by her side. Born in the Province of Rome, Pratola, Italy in 1911, the youngest of five sisters and two brothers, she arrived in Boston, MA in 1917 with her family to begin her journey in America. Mary lived in Hartford for 25 years and was employed by the Loews Poli and Palace Theaters as a Motion Picture Industry Representative for ten years. She married in 1936 and moved to Wethersfield and resided there for 57 years raising their two children with Larry and successfully owned and operated their decorating and contracting business as Vice President for over 40 years, serving the Greater Hartford area. Mary was a longtime parishioner of the Corpus Christi Church as well as an active member of the Ladies' Church Guild. She was a philanthropist and organizer of several charitable foundations, which were dear to her heart, and she embraced each day with her love and appreciation of music, art, nature and her family. Truly a woman of beauty and substance. One of Mary's greatest joys were flowers and she admired them daily. She is survived by her daughter, Diane Yacovone Aurigemma and grandson, Grayson Yacovone Roberts of Wethersfield; a son Robert Yacovone, daughter-in-law Sharon Yacovone and a granddaughter Lauren W. Yacovone all of New Hampshire. She also leaves several loving nieces, nephews and grand-nieces, grand-nephews and devoted dear friends. Funeral services will be Saturday, March 4, at 9 a.m. from D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield, with a Mass of Christian Burial 10 a.m. at Corpus Christi Church, Wethersfield. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Memorial Park in Rocky Hill. Friends may call at the funeral home Friday, 5-8 p.m.
