

Matthew Christopher Molloy, 24, of Rocky Hill, passed away peacefully on Monday, January 16, 2023 after a courageous, year-long battle with cancer. Born on April 27, 1998 in Hartford, he was the eldest of three children to Christopher and Anne (Palmer) Molloy.
Matt grew up in Rocky Hill, graduating from Rocky Hill High School, Class of 2016, and was a member of the National Honor Society. In addition to academics, he was captain of the lacrosse and football teams. Matt continued his education, earning his Bachelor’s Degree from UConn in 2021. After graduating, Matt was employed as an apprentice at Goldberg Larkin, LLC in the financial services sector. Matt loved the outdoors and spending summers at Block Island and Point O’ Woods beaches, where he enjoyed skim boarding and fishing with family and friends. He also enjoyed skiing with friends in the winter months.
Matt lit up every room he walked into with a zest for life and adventure, always willing to engage in a conversation on a current event or discussion on the human condition. He cared so deeply for others, never complaining about his predicament or letting anyone worry about him. His bright personality left an impact on anyone he met. Matt had a very close group of friends that he loved spending time with, whether that was attending sporting events together or just hanging out. He also never missed a chance to watch his NY Giants or UConn teams play.
In addition to his parents, Matt will be deeply missed and forever remembered by his sister Emma Molloy and his brother Jack Molloy, of Rocky Hill; his paternal grandfather, James P. Molloy of Newington; and his maternal grandparents, William and Isaura Palmer of Tiverton, RI; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and a countless number of friends. He also leaves behind his precious dog, Cooper and his 60-gallon fish tank. Matt was predeceased by his paternal grandmother, Grace (Pitaro) Molloy, uncle, Vincent Cagnetta and a dear cousin, Megan L. Cordeiro.
The family will receive relatives and friends on SUNDAY, JANUARY 29TH FROM 2 TO 5 P.M. AT the D'Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Boulevard, Wethersfield. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on MONDAY, JANUARY 30TH AT 11 A.M. at the St. Josephine Bakhita Parish at St. James Church, 767 Elm Street, Rocky Hill. Attendees are asked to go directly to the church. . At the request of the Molloy family, MASKS ARE MANDATORY, PLEASE. Private interment will take place at the convenience of the Molloy family.
