

Maurizio Formica, 79, of Cibolo, Texas, formerly of Hartford, passed away on June 17, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Belvedere, Siracusa, Sicily, Italy, he was the son of the late Sebastiano and Vincenza (LaMonica) Formica. Maurizio immigrated to the United States and spent most of his life in Hartford before relocating to Texas. He was known for his strong work ethic, deep faith, generosity, and devotion to family.
Maurizio worked for many years in the construction industry and was admired for his ability to build, repair, and solve nearly any problem. He was always willing to lend a helping hand and offer guidance to family, friends, and neighbors.
A devoted husband and family man, Maurizio found his greatest joy in spending time with loved ones. He enjoyed cooking traditional Italian meals, especially pizza, and took pride in bringing people together around the table. He also enjoyed music, travel, and maintaining lifelong friendships in both Italy and the United States. Throughout his illness, he remained steadfast in his faith and continued to share his humor and optimism with those around him.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary (DiCioccio) Formica; his brother, Francesco Formica and wife Concetta; his niece, Emanuela Figueiredo and husband Joseph; his nephews, Sebastiano Formica and wife Windy, Dariusz Formica, Frank Pereira, Steven Ficara and Sebastiano Formica Jr.; his brothers-in-law, Thomas DiCioccio, Cosmo DiCioccio and Daniel DiCioccio and wife Karen and several nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his niece, Enza Formica.
Family and friends are invited to attend a visitation and Celebration of Life on Thursday, July 16 from 4-7 p.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Boulevard, Wethersfield. Funeral procession will leave on Friday, July 17 at 9 a.m. from the funeral chapel for a graveside service at 10 a.m. at Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery, 1 Cottage Grove Road, Bloomfield.
