

Michael A. DiBattisto, Sr., 78, of Rocky Hill and Westbrook, loving and devoted husband for 57 years of Jean (DiMartino) DiBattisto, died peacefully, Monday, July 3, 2017 at St. Francis Hospital with his family by his side. He was born December 17, 1938 in Hartford and was the son of the late Peter and Anne (Cultrera) DiBattisto. Mike was a graduate of Wethersfield High School, class of 1957 and a graduate of Hartford Institute of Accounting. Mike was a senior financial analyst at United Technologies Corporation for 36 years, retiring in 1994. He was also employed by the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel for over 15 years. He was a longtime, faithful communicant of St. James Church, Rocky Hill and was one of the first Eucharistic Ministers at the church, a religious educator and started the CYO Basketball program. Mike was an avid 10-pin bowler and bowled the first perfect 300 game at Bowl-O-Rama in Newington. He also enjoyed spending time at his summer cottage in Westbrook. He was a master woodworker and furniture maker and many friends and family members were blessed with pieces of his craft. Mike was an avid fan of the New York Yankees and UCONN men’s and women’s basketball. A loving husband, father and grandfather, Mike will be dearly missed by his devoted wife Jean; two children, Debra J. Atwell and husband Michael of Cromwell and Michael A. DiBattisto, Jr. and wife Antonella of Rocky Hill and his three cherished grandchildren, Jared Atwell, Michael A. DiBattisto, III and Isabella DiBattisto. He is also survived by his sister, Joanne Lionetti and husband Michael of Cromwell; a niece, Lisa Rockefeller and husband Glynn; nephew, Michael Lionetti and wife Tina, as well as many other family members and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday (July 7) at 10 a.m. at St. Josephine Bakhita Parish at St. James Church, 767 Elm Street, Rocky Hill. Everyone is asked to please go directly to the church. Burial will be private. Calling hours are Thursday from 5-8 p.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Blvd., Wethersfield.
