Pasquale Golino

Born in Siracusa, Sicily, on March 15, 1943, he was the son of the late Giuseppe and Antonina (Sorano) Golino. As a young man, Pasquale worked repairing and maintaining the lower hulls of ships for the Italian Navy, a job that helped make him an exceptional swimmer.

He later built a successful career as a skilled auto body technician, working for many years in Sicily and continuing his trade after immigrating to the United States in 1968.

Pasquale was proud of his Italian heritage and enjoyed cheering on Ferrari in Formula 1 racing. He never missed an opportunity to watch his favorite Italian soccer club play and especially looked forward to when Italy competed in the World Cup. He found joy in life's simple pleasures and shared many laughs with family and friends.

Above all else, Pasquale cherished his family. Nothing made him happier than spending time with his children, grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, who brought him immeasurable pride and happiness throughout his life.

Although he never considered himself much of a gardener, he held a special place in his heart for his beloved fig tree, affectionately known as "Twig." Each year, he would hope and pray it would produce at least one fig. Much to his disappointment, it never seemed to cooperate, becoming a treasured family joke and one of the many memories that will keep his spirit alive.

In addition to his devoted wife, Mafalda, Pasquale will be forever missed by his son, Giuseppe Golino and his wife, Christine, of Watertown; his daughter, Antonella Wilson and her husband, Alfred, of Newington; his three adored grandchildren, Nadia and Anthony Golino and Claudia Wilson; and his step-grandsons, Jacob and Nicholas Davis. He is also survived by his sister, Lucia Golino D'Amico; his sister-in-law, Daniela Spada; and several beloved nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends.

He was predeceased by his brothers, Aldo and Lorenzo Golino; his brother-in-law, Roberto Spada; his niece, Mariella D'Amico; and his great-nephew, Andrew Spada.

The family extends its heartfelt gratitude to the extraordinary nurses and social workers of Hartford HealthCare at Home Hospice Care for their compassionate care and support. They would also like to express their love and appreciation to Dora, “Pasqualito's” PCA, whose kindness and dedication meant so much to him and his family. They could not have navigated this journey without her.

His love for family, his devotion to his roots, and his warm spirit will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew him.

Calling hours will be Friday, August 7 from 9-10:15 a.m. at the D’Esopo Funeral Chapel, 277 Folly Brook Boulevard, Wethersfield followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church of Annunciation Parish, 626 Willard Avenue, Newington. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hartford.
